Wegovy 1.7mg

Wegovy and Mounjaro are different medicines. Wegovy contains semaglutide (a GLP-1 receptor agonist). Mounjaro contains tirzepatide (a dual GIP/GLP-1 medicine). Because they work differently, the doses are not directly interchangeable.

If you are moving between the two, your new starting point will depend on your current medication, dose, response and tolerance. Switching is individual and clinician-led to make sure treatment remains safe and effective.

1.7mg is the dose before 2.4mg in the Wegovy titration schedule. 2.4mg is currently the highest licensed dose of Wegovy in the UK. Some people do well on 1.7mg, while others need 2.4mg for stronger appetite control and continued weight loss.

Semaglutide (Wegovy’s active ingredient) has a half-life of about seven days, so roughly half the dose leaves your body each week. By 3 to 4 weeks, more than 90% has cleared. Small traces can remain after 5 weeks, and it is usually considered fully cleared within 6 to 7 weeks after your last injection.

If you have not followed the titration plan from 0.25mg upwards, starting at 1.7mg is not advised, as it can raise the risk of side effects.

If you are switching from another GLP-1 (for example, Mounjaro) or moving to Voy from another provider, you may be able to continue at 1.7mg if you have recently completed the lower doses and tolerated them well.

Your clinician will review your current dose, your last injection date, your tolerance and your progress before confirming 1.7mg or recommending a different starting point.

Plateaus can be common around this stage. As you lose weight, your body burns fewer calories than before, so you may need to adjust your food portions or activity.

• Speak with your Voy treatment specialist to review meals and habits.
• Track more than the scale: waist measurement, progress photos, energy, appetite, step count and sleep.

If your appetite is not well controlled and side effects are mild, your clinician may suggest increasing to 2.4mg.

Yes. Many people find that 1.7mg provides strong appetite control and steady weight loss, especially when combined with healthy food choices, regular activity and good sleep.

Your clinician will review your progress to decide whether to stay on 1.7mg or move to 2.4mg if further appetite control or progress is needed.

No. The standard titration is 0.25mg → 0.5mg → 1.0mg → 1.7mg, with each step taken over at least four weeks. Some people need a slower dose titration if their body needs more time to adjust or if side effects occur. Others may not need to increase all the way if they reach their maximum tolerated (stable) dose earlier in treatment.

Skipping doses or moving up too quickly can increase the risk of side effects. Your clinician will confirm the safest schedule for you.

You do not need to count clicks to administer a dose. The pre-filled pen for Wegovy is set by dose display, not counted clicks. You rotate the dial until the window shows “1.7mg” and then inject.

Each Wegovy 1.7mg dose is delivered in 0.75 mL of solution but you do not need to measure it yourself. Simply turn the dial to 1.7mg and inject as instructed.

Inject Wegovy once a week on the same day, into the stomach, thigh or upper arm. Rotate sites each week and avoid injecting into the exact same spot.
