Your sexual wellbeing is shaped by your body, your mind and your world around you...

01 - the body

The physical foundation

Hormonal changes in midlife can affect tissue, nerve sensitivity, lubrication, circulation and desire. These changes are real, well researched and often treatable. Addressing what’s happening in your body is an important first step.

02 - the mind

The inner layer

Confidence, body image, anxiety and past experiences can shape sex just as much as hormones. Trauma, difficult births, painful sex or years of putting your own needs last,  can all influence how you feel now — and deserve to be part of the conversation.

03 - the world

The bigger picture

Relationships, a partner’s health or libido, caring responsibilities, work, grief and the pressures of midlife can all affect sexual wellbeing. For some women, this means navigating change with a partner. For others, it’s about reconnecting with themselves. Both matter.

THE SCIENCE

How hormones can affect you

Many vaginal and urinary symptoms can be linked to lower oestrogen. As levels fall, tissues in the vagina, vulva and urinary tract can become thinner, drier and more sensitive, leading to symptoms such as dryness, irritation and discomfort.

Hormonal changes can happen during:

Perimenopause and menopause
Pregnancy and after childbirth
Breastfeeding
Use of some hormonal contraceptives
VAGINAL OESTROGEN

Feeling better physically can make space for everything else

For many women, vaginal oestrogen is the first-line treatment for symptoms of vaginal and urinary changes. When these are addressed, comfort, confidence and desire often have room to return.

How does it work, and is it safe?

How it works

Delivers low-dose oestrogen straight to the vaginal and urethral tissues
Rebuilds the thinning tissue, increases natural moisture, thickens the lining, and lowers the risk of repeat UTIs
Helps with lubrication, pain during sex, and skin elacisity

Safety

Vaginal oestrogen is considered a low-risk treatment for most women. Because it works locally, only a small amount is absorbed into the bloodstream, and side effects are very rare.

Is vaginal oestrogen the same as HRT?

Vaginal oestrogen is a type of local HRT. Unlike HRT patches, gels or tablets that work throughout the body, it delivers a low dose of oestrogen directly to the vaginal tissues through different forms such as; Gel, cream, pessary, tablet, vaginal ring.

How does the assessment work?

The assessment takes around 8 minutes, and we recommend finding a quiet moment to yourself. It covers some sensitive topics, including sexual pain, emotional wellbeing, relationships and desire. Everything you share is confidential and only reviewed by our clinical team.

Once you’ve completed the assessment, you’ll receive a recommendation — either a vaginal treatment plan or an appointment if we think a conversation with a clinician would be helpful first.

If treatment is suitable, one of our doctors will review and prescribe within 24 hours. Your medication is then delivered free of charge, usually within 2–3 working days of your first payment.

How much does this cost?

Vaginal oestrogen treatment plans cost from £40-60 per month for 3 month cycles. This cost also covers your care, which includes access to our clinical team via WhatsApp Mon-Fri, a free CBT taster session, and a doctor review appointment at 12 weeks to see how you are getting on with treatment and if the dose needs adjusting. Your plan will automatically continue unless you cancel after 3 months.

Estriol (0.1% cream) £40 per month
Blissel (gel) £40 per month
Vagirux (pessary tablet) £40 per month
Intrarosa (pessary) £60 per month
Estring (vaginal ring) £50 permonth
Do I need an examination?

No, you do not need an examination. Our service is all ran online, from taking the assessment, through to starting treatment and interacting with our doctors and care team.

What if I've had breast cancer?

Vaginal dryness and discomfort are very common after breast cancer treatment, and having had breast cancer doesn't automatically rule out treatment.

Vaginal oestrogen works locally — it treats the tissue it's applied to, and very little is absorbed into the bloodstream. That's different to HRT taken as a tablet, patch or gel. Current evidence and UK guidance support its use for vaginal and urinary symptoms in women who have had breast cancer, and studies to date have not shown an increased risk of recurrence.
Because your history matters, we'll always ask you to book a sexual health appointment before we prescribe. In that appointment, one of our clinicians will go through your diagnosis, treatment and any medication you're taking now.
