ADHD has long been diagnosed based on how it shows up in boys. Many women learn to mask their symptoms, making struggles easy to miss — even for themselves.

Complete a pre-assessment questionnaire so we can understand your symptoms and behaviours, to see if an assessment is right for you.

Have your 90 minute comprehensive clinical assessment based on validated assessment tools, observation, and your individual story.

Leave with clear next steps regardless of diagnostic outcome.
What this looks like:
A clear diagnostic report, recognised by health and care providers and employers alike.
Safe and thoughtful initiation of ADHD medication, where appropriate.
CBT talking therapy sessions available, to learn healthy ways of managing your symptoms.
ADHD assessments can feel daunting. Ours are led by expert clinicians and centred on human connection, designed to give you clarity — not confusion. You’ll leave with a clear outcome, practical next steps, and support tailored to you.
Your assessment lasts around 90 minutes. Please set aside 2 hours as sometimes your clinician may need to take complex needs into account for you, which may require more time. The assessment is called a ‘structured diagnostic interview’. This means that the clinician uses a highly structured assessment tool as the framework to explore all the aspects of possible ADHD, rule out other conditions that may appear similar to ADHD, and assess the impact of your symptoms across your whole life. However, the experience for you will also be like a conversation; the clinician will listen carefully to your personal experiences and your opinion of your symptoms.
During your assessment we will also draw upon information from someone who knows you very well. Ideally this should be someone who knew you as a child, but we recognise that this may not be possible for a few women having an assessment in mid- or later life.
ADHD in women can be more nuanced and involve more internalising (in your mind rather than outwardly showing to other people). During the consultation, we will help you make sense of your symptoms, looking at ‘core’ aspects of ADHD (hyperactivity, inattentiveness, and impulsivity) as well as the ‘non-core’ aspects (such as trouble with regulating emotions and decision-making). We also look at the interplay with hormones, and can give you clarity on how ADHD interacts with your cycle or your perimenopause.
Our clinicians are specialists in women’s health and work in this field with the deep understanding that women’s health issues are often under-recognised and may go untreated for too long. At Voy we are here to listen and make sure you feel understood.
After your assessment, your clinician will go through a detailed diagnosis with you and a treatment plan.
If you are diagnosed with ADHD, it may be one of three types:
Inattentive ADHD is more common in women, but you may have any of the three types, and ADHD is highly individual to each person.
According to your personal life situation and goals, we will discuss a treatment plan with you. This may include lifestyle recommendations, therapy or coaching advice, help with employment concerns, learning plans, safety planning and the offer of a CBT course with our therapist. If you’re experiencing ADHD in perimenopause or worsening during your hormonal cycle, we can discuss hormonal treatment with you. Should you require HRT, we can offer this through our Voy Menopause service.
If you have any co-existing medical conditions, we can offer specific recommendations around this - for example, treatment options to manage any anxiety existing alongside ADHD, or looking at how ADHD interacts with any physical health conditions such as hypermobility or joint pain.
Please note that we do not currently prescribe ADHD stimulant medication at Voy. You are welcome to use your diagnostic report from us to enquire about medication through NHS routes.
ADHD assessment does not always result in a diagnosis. We recognise that women may strongly identify with a lot of the symptoms and ‘traits’ (lifelong tendencies) of ADHD. This is absolutely valid, but different from having severe levels of impairment across all aspects of life that constitute a diagnosis of ADHD as a clinical disorder.
There are a few reasons why you may not receive a diagnosis of ADHD:
We can help you unpick all of this so you have clarity and understanding.
If you don’t receive a diagnosis of ADHD, we can still help with the symptoms that have concerned you and affected your life. For people that have strong traits of ADHD but don’t meet a clinical diagnosis, coping strategies and insights into managing ADHD symptoms can help a great deal. You can still access our course of therapy, so that you can feel empowered to really work out the internal drivers of your symptoms, and how to make practical everyday changes to live better.

For years, women have been under-diagnosed. The statistics reveal just how significant the gap really is.

You can begin by completing the optional mini questionnaire to see whether ADHD traits resonate with you. If you decide to move forward, you’ll book a consultation with a with a senior doctor experienced in women’s health and ADHD.
Before your appointment, you’ll complete a short pre-consultation questionnaire. This helps your doctor understand your history in advance so your consultation time is used meaningfully.
The consultation lasts approximately 90-120 minutes. Following this, you’ll receive a comprehensive diagnostic report outlining whether you meet the criteria for ADHD, any alternative explanations if relevant, and clear recommendations for next steps. ADHD-focused CBT and coaching are available where appropriate.
The aim is clarity, not simply a label.
Yes. The assessment process follows recognised UK clinical standards, including NICE Guideline NG87, Royal College of Psychiatrists Good Practice Guidance (2017), and the Adult ADHD Assessment Quality Assurance Standard (AQAS).
That uncertainty is common. Many women seek assessment because something has felt consistently harder than it should be, whether that’s focus, emotional regulation, overwhelm or burnout.
The mini quiz can help you explore whether ADHD traits resonate. If you proceed with an assessment, your doctor will carefully review your history, current symptoms, and the impact on your life. They will also consider and rule out other conditions that can present in similar ways.
Even if you are not diagnosed with ADHD, therapy can still be beneficial. The purpose of the assessment is understanding and appropriate support, not forcing a diagnosis.
Historically, ADHD diagnostic frameworks were based largely on research in young boys. As a result, women’s experiences have often been misunderstood, masked, or mislabelled.
This service is specifically designed around female presentation, including masking patterns, internalised symptoms, hormonal considerations, and the emotional impact of late diagnosis.
Our clinicians’ background in women’s health provides a broader and more contextual understanding during assessment.
We do not currently prescribe ADHD medication. However, you may share your diagnostic report with your GP to discuss medication through NHS pathways.
ADHD-focused CBT and coaching are available through us, and prescribing services are planned for the future.
Some women tell us that they would prefer not to use stimulant medication for ADHD. In this situation, ADHD-focussed CBT and therapy can be life-changing and are available through us. It is also highly beneficial to treat any hormonal concerns (such as PMS and perimenopause) which may be making ADHD symptoms worse.
We do not currently prescribe ADHD medication, but this is planned for the future. Many women with ADHD do benefit from stimulant medication; if you wish, you may share your Voy diagnostic report with your GP to discuss medication through NHS pathways.
You'll need to comlete two short questionnaires, which take 15mins each to complete. You’ll also be asked to nominate someone who has known you very well, ideally as a child, such as; a family member, or close friend — to complete a short questionnaire of around 15 minutes.
The process is thorough, but designed to be manageable and significantly shorter than many comparable services.
Yes. CBT sessions can be purchased separately at a later stage. There is a reduced rate if booked alongside your assessment.
CBT can be offered after your assessment, we have created an ADHD specific framework "Becoming Your Own Ally" which is a structured 10-session therapy journey and costs £***. It reframes ADHD as a high-sensitivity nervous system that requires an "Ally" (compassionate regulation) rather than a "Warden" (punitive masking).
Core Therapeutic Pillars:
The consultation lasts for up to 2 hours.” “This allows enough time to explore your experience in depth and to consider whether you have other mental health conditions or a more complex presentation. Occasionally, your consultation may last longer if you have other mental health conditions or the diagnosis is more complex.
A shorter appointment would not provide the clinical rigour required for a robust diagnosis. The length reflects the highly specialist process and acknowledges that ADHD is a lifelong diagnosis.

If you need to reschedule, please get in contact with us as early as possible.

For many women, a diagnosis brings immediate clarity and validation. It can reframe years of self-blame and provide language for long-standing patterns.
Therapy can then help you process the diagnosis and develop practical strategies for regulation, organisation, and burnout prevention.
This is not a quick fix. It is a structured and clinically grounded pathway towards better understanding and management.
