We review your blood test results to ensure it’s safe to start, or continue, treatment. Testosterone testing for women is primarily a safety measure as it helps us confirm that your levels are not already elevated and gives us a baseline to monitor your care.

Blood levels are only part of the picture. Many women experience symptoms such as low libido, fatigue, or brain fog even when their testosterone levels fall within the “normal” laboratory range. This is because blood tests don’t always reflect how much testosterone is available to your tissues or how your body is responding to it.

For this reason, treatment decisions are guided by both your symptoms and your blood results. Even if your level is technically normal, we may still consider testosterone therapy if your symptoms are consistent and there are no safety concerns. Our goal is to improve how you feel while keeping your hormone levels within a safe and appropriate range.

Although the names sound similar, these are not the same tests.
Our women’s testosterone test uses a Tasso blood collection device, rather than a standard finger-prick. The Tasso device is more expensive, but we use it deliberately because it’s painless, easier to use, and far less prone to contamination.
This is especially important for women using HRT gels or creams, which can easily contaminate finger-prick samples and lead to inaccurate results or the need for retesting. The Tasso device helps ensure reliable, accurate results from the first test.

The £69 price also includes a clinician review of your results and consultation if needed — so it covers everything required to assess whether testosterone treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
By comparison, the £33 men’s test is only the first of two blood tests required before treatment, and does not include a doctor consultation.
