Androfeme

• Before commencing treatment your testosterone levels will be checked. Once agreed between you and your clinician that it is appropriate to start, the typical starting dose is 0.5 mL of Androfeme 1% cream, delivering 5 mg of testosterone, applied once daily.

• Application Site: Apply the cream to clean, dry, and intact skin on the upper outer thigh or buttocks. These areas are recommended because they offer good absorption while minimising the risk of transference to others.
• Timing: Apply at the same time each day, preferably in the evening. Avoid showering or swimming for at least 2 hours after application to ensure proper absorption.
• Hygiene: Wash hands thoroughly after application to prevent unintentional transfer to others.

When used at recommended doses, Androfeme is generally well-tolerated. However, some women may experience mild side effects, including:

• Acne
• Increased hair growth at the application site
• Mood changes

These side effects are typically reversible upon adjusting the dose or discontinuing therapy. Serious side effects, such as voice deepening or clitoral enlargement, are rare when testosterone levels are maintained within the female physiological range.

There are no testosterone products licensed for use in women in the UK. This means that you should be under the care of an expert doctor. Any testosterone therapy prescribed in the UK is considered ‘off-label; and should be initiated and monitored by a healthcare professional with an expertise in menopause.

• You need a baseline total testosterone test before starting
• You then will need a monitoring blood test 10-12 weeks after starting testosterone treatment, to check you are using the right amount. Your next 3 months of medication can not be shipped without this.
• Generally, blood tests will be needed every 3 months until your levels are stable. They will then be required once per year after this.

Androfeme cream contains almond oil and should not be used by individuals with a peanut or tree nut allergy.
