Step by step: How to switch from Mounjaro to Wegovy
Switching medications can feel daunting, but with the right support, switching doesn’t need to impact your progress and the transition can be a smooth and safe process.
Where to start
- Already with Voy: Open the Voy app and request a switch on the "Plan" page where you will be prompted to complete a short medical assessment.

Step 1 - Complete your short assessment
We’ll check for any updates since you started treatment, including changes to your medical history, any side effects you’ve experienced, your last Mounjaro dose strength, and when you last took it. This helps us make sure your switch to Wegovy is safe and maintains your progress.
Step 2 - Select your starting dose
Based on your answers, we’ll recommend two options:
- An equivalent or higher dose, if you’ve been tolerating treatment well and want to keep momentum
- A lower, gradual starting dose, if you’ve had recent side effects or want to ease into treatment
*Current dose refers to the dose of Mounjaro you are prescribed at the time of switching. If you have missed a dose or experienced severe side effects on Mounjaro, you will be offered a lower Wegovy dose.

Step 3 - Clinician review and approval
Your answers and previous journey on Mounjaro will be reviewed by a clinician to confirm it’s safe to proceed with the switch. If everything checks out, your prescription for Wegovy will be approved.
Step 4 - Receive your medication
Once approved, your Wegovy pen will be delivered straight to your door in secure, discreet packaging.

Step 5 - Wait one week between medications
Allow at least 7 days between your final Mounjaro dose and your first Wegovy injection. Ideally, begin on your usual injection day to keep your routine consistent.
Step 6 – Begin Wegovy
Start with your approved dose. Remember to prime your pen before the first use only. Unlike Mounjaro, Wegovy does not require a flow check before every dose.

How to switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro
The steps are very similar to switching in the other direction. You’ll still need to wait at least 7 days between your final Wegovy injection and your first dose of Mounjaro.
A few key differences to keep in mind:
- Priming: Unlike Wegovy, Mounjaro requires a flow check (priming) before every dose — not just the first.
- Storage: Mounjaro should be stored in the fridge (2–8°C) before first use. Once opened, you can keep it either in the fridge or at room temperature (up to 30°C). The key difference is the use-by date: unopened pens last until the expiry date printed on the box, but after the first injection, each pen must be used within 30 days - compared with 6 weeks for Wegovy.
