Voy launched its weight loss service in 2023, built on the Manual pharmacy platform that has run in the UK since 2019, and has since changed over 1.5 million lives. Its weight loss programme pairs medication with clinical support and a community, and the evidence points to that combination being what helps people lose more and keep it off.

To get started with Voy, you complete an online assessment, a UK-registered clinician reviews it, and if treatment is right for you your first order arrives with a rescue pack included. After that you have ongoing clinical support, an app to track your progress, and a members community for the length of your treatment.

What is MedExpress?

MedExpress is an online pharmacy that has run since 2013. Weight loss is one category among many, sitting alongside sexual health, pain relief, digestive health, skin and hair, allergies, travel health, and more.

Treatment works in three steps. You fill in a short online consultation, a UK-registered clinician reviews it and recommends treatment if it's suitable, and your medication is delivered discreetly. If a clinician needs to talk to you, that happens on a booked Audio Visual Consultation, a video call arranged through your account.

Medications and eligibility

Both Voy and MedExpress offer Mounjaro, Wegovy injections and the Wegovy pill, and both accept patients from a BMI of 25 after a clinical assessment.

Normally these medications are licensed for a BMI of 30, or 27 and above if you have a weight-related condition. Prescribing below that, from a BMI of 25 as both providers do, is called off-label. It's a normal part of UK practice when a clinician decides the benefits outweigh the risks, and that's often the case before BMI 30, because problems like high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes can start earlier.
