Meet Dr. Penny
Menopause can feel overwhelming and confusing, with fluctuating and unexpected symptoms and a lot of information to navigate. I focus on turning complex medical information and jargon into clear, simple guidance to help women feel informed, confident, and in control of their health.
About
I am a GP with over 20 years of medical experience, working in Southampton since 2014 after completing my medical degree at the University of Southampton and GP training in Glasgow. Alongside my clinical work, I have spent over 15 years involved in medical education, supporting the training of future doctors and contributing to public health communication through writing, media work, and health education. I enjoy helping patients better understand their health so they can feel confident and supported in their care.
Medical expertise
I have a special interest in women’s health and menopause care, holding the Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health and the British Menopause Society Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care. My consultations focus on understanding each woman’s individual experience of menopause and developing personalised treatment plans that consider symptoms, lifestyle, and long-term health. I aim to provide evidence-based care that supports women in improving their wellbeing and quality of life.

Get to know Penny
Outside of work I love travelling and discovering new places, often guided by good food as I’m a self-confessed foodie. Life at home with two teenagers keeps me busy as an unofficial taxi driver, and I try to balance this with reformer Pilates and a slightly love–hate relationship with my Peloton bike. Spending time with family and friends is how I like to recharge.
