At Voy, we’re building a new model of healthcare; combining technology with expert clinicians to deliver personalised care at scale. One area where this is making a real difference is men’s health, where many patients have historically struggled to find support.
We spoke with, Lewis, one of our TRT doctors to learn more about their role, what it’s like working at Voy, and why helping patients reclaim their health is so rewarding.
What does a TRT doctor do at Voy?
My role involves assessing and supporting men who may be experiencing symptoms related to low testosterone, guiding them through diagnosis, treatment decisions, and ongoing monitoring throughout their TRT journey.
How long have you been here?
I joined in October 2025.
What does a typical week look like?
A typical week involves a mix of consultations with both existing and prospective patients.
I carry out reviews for patients who have already commenced their TRT journey. During these appointments we discuss how they have been feeling, any improvements they may have noticed, and any side effects they might be experiencing. At Voy we practise holistic care, so I also take the time to review general health markers in their blood results. If something such as cholesterol is raised, lifestyle modifications are discussed, and we explore ways in which the patient can optimise their overall health alongside TRT.
Initial consultations are longer and focus on getting to know the patient and understanding how their symptoms have been impacting them. I take a full medical history and assess whether TRT would be safe and appropriate for them. Their blood tests are carefully reviewed, and if they are eligible, we discuss the potential benefits, risks, and treatment options so they can decide whether they would like to begin treatment.
This is an important moment for the patient to gain a real insight into what Voy can offer them, as well as a sense of the ethos of the company. Good rapport is essential, as building trust is key in helping patients feel confident to invest in their health.
Outside of consultations, I spend time reviewing blood results, responding to patient queries, and approving medication requests to ensure patients receive their treatment safely and efficiently.
Alongside my role at Voy, I also work part-time as an NHS GP.
What excites you most about your role?
Creating a safe space where men feel comfortable opening up about sensitive issues they may have been struggling with for a long time is very meaningful. To then be able to offer treatment that could genuinely improve their lives is a real privilege.
Many of our patients have often spent a long time searching for answers for their symptoms, so when they begin treatment they are usually very engaged and motivated to make positive changes.
Patients often describe the effects of TRT as life-changing, so witnessing those transformations and playing a role in helping people feel like themselves again is incredibly rewarding.
What’s it like working at Voy?
I love coming into the office. Voy has a great atmosphere, it has a buzz, but also a very calm and grounding energy. It has the best selection of snacks and soft drinks; shout out to our office manager Emily, who always keeps us well stocked!
Beyond the snacks, everyone across the different teams is incredibly friendly, and I’ve made some really good friends in the short time I’ve been here. I feel very grateful to have been selected for the role.
What challenges come with working in a fast-growing healthtech?
Voy is a fast-growing company, which means things evolve quickly. Processes and systems are constantly improving, so you need to stay adaptable and open to change. It keeps the role dynamic and ensures we’re always refining how we deliver care.
What 3 words would you use to describe Voy?
Energising, Progressive, Composed.
