What is Testogel?

Testogel is a topical testosterone gel absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream, helping to restore testosterone levels to a healthy female range. It comes in 2.5 g sachets containing 40.5 mg of testosterone, for women, the typical starting dose is approximately one-eighth of a sachet per day, delivering around 5 mg of testosterone, meaning each sachet lasts eight days. It is prescribed off-licence for women experiencing hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) when optimised HRT has not provided sufficient relief. Testosterone is a hormone women naturally produce in the ovaries and adrenal glands, and levels can decline with age or fall more abruptly following surgical menopause.

Benefits of Testogel

Testogel is a testosterone gel prescribed off-licence for women at a much lower dose than is used for men. It is typically considered when oestrogen-based HRT alone has not fully addressed symptoms, particularly low libido, fatigue, and brain fog. Applied daily in a small, carefully measured amount, it works by restoring testosterone to a healthy female range. It is prescribed and monitored by a specialist, with blood tests to guide dosing.

Symptoms this treatment addresses:

  • Low libido and reduced sexual desire
  • Reduced arousal, sensitivity, or pleasure
  • Low energy and motivation
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
  • Low mood and irritability
